GreenShot is our new choice for screenshots. We opened our new image directly in the surprisingly sophisticated GreenShot Image Editor, which let us add effects, text and objects resize, crop and rotate and even draw freehand on our image. On Tuesday, TechSmith released Jing Pro, a paid premium version of its free screen capture and casting software. The new service, which runs 14.95 a year, upgrades videos to H.264 encoding, takes. GreenShot's green-tinted capture region is pretty cool and makes selections a cinch. We selected Capture region, held down the mouse button and dragged the active area to capture a screen image. The best Android alternative is ApowerREC - Screen Recorder, which is free.If that doesnt suit you, our users have ranked more than 100 alternatives to Jing and seven of them are available for Android so hopefully you can find a suitable replacement. GreenShot works a lot like other screen capture tools. GreenShot works a lot like other screen capture tools. Jing is not available for Android but there are some alternatives with similar functionality. The system tray menu also has a Quick Preferences submenu for common settings. There's also an Expert tab with a checkbox labeled "I know what I am doing!" that enables options such as checking for unstable updates and specifying printer footer patterns. For example, the Destination tab let us choose either to select file destinations dynamically (the default setting) or to designate specific choices ranging from Save directly to opening an image editor or Office app. GreenShot's Settings are much more extensive and impressive than most free screenshot tools. Then you can either click its icon to open an extensive (and nicely rendered) menu, or use a variety of hotkeys for specific jobs. When it's running, GreenShot sticks to the system tray until you need it. We could also set GreenShot to open when Windows starts. The installer apparently detected our copy of Office because the Office plug-in was already selected. GreenShot's installation wizard lets you choose from a variety of plug-ins to install, as well as huge list of interface languages, most displayed in their own form of script. Recent updates include Windows 8 compatibility. That describes our new favorite screenshot tool, GreenShot. Finally, you should be able to save or export your screenshot just as effortlessly as you created it, including uploading it directly to sites such as Picasa using plug-ins. You should be able to obscure, blur, annotate, or highlight parts of the image as you create it. It must quickly and easily capture all or part of your screen. When choosing a free screenshot tool, consider why you're saving screenshots and what you need to do to them.

Microsoft notes that Adobe's implementation offers full feature parity with the legacy Microsoft PDF technology that is being used currently in the web browser. Edge users who have an Acrobat subscription already may use the Acrobat extension inside Microsoft Edge without additional costs to gain access to these features. Microsoft notes that users may purchase an Acrobat subscription to gain access to advanced features that include text and image editing capabilities, PDF conversions and combining, and more. The built-in Adobe Acrobat PDF technology will be free for Edge users. Microsoft reveals no data, only that the feature "is coming in the future". While initially limited to Windows 10 and Windows 11, Adobe Acrobat PDF technology will eventually come to mac OS devices as well. Microsoft published an FAQ on its Tech Community website that provides additional information. It gives users "a unique PDF experience" with "higher fidelity for more accurate colors and graphics, improved performance, strong security for PDF handling, and greater accessibility - including better text selection and read-aloud narration". The company highlights the advantages of the change. The legacy engine remains available until the data, but will be removed from Edge at this point leaving only Adobe's solution for PDF viewing in the web browser. Microsoft plans to retire the current Microsoft Edge PDF solution on March 31, 2024. Managed devices need to be opt-in, according to Microsoft's announcement on the Microsoft Edge blog. There is no opt-out for general users, according to Microsoft. Edge for Home users and on non-managed devices will get the new functionality automatically. The rollout of the change is scheduled for March 2023. Adobe's Acrobat PDF technology will be included in Microsoft Edge for Windows 10 and Windows 11. However, buckeye trees are native to North America, and horse chestnuts come from Europe. Both horse chestnuts and buckeyes belong to the same tree genus Aesculus. The main difference between buckeyes and horse chestnuts is their height, number of seeds, and leaf size. What is the Difference Between Buckeyes and Horse Chestnuts? Interestingly, squirrels can eat raw buckeye nuts and are one of the few animals that can do so. Ingesting the poisonous seeds causes similar symptoms as for humans-vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions, and even coma. The US Department of Agriculture ( USDA) says that ingesting any part of buckeye plants can cause severe gastrointestinal upset, muscle weakness, and paralysis.īuckeye seeds, leaves, and bark are also poisonous for cats, dogs, and livestock. The only way to use these inedible buckeye seeds is in crafts. Because of its toxicity, you shouldn’t eat any part of the Ohio buckeye or other buckeye species. All Parts of The Buckeye Tree are Poisonousīuckeyes seeds, stems, leaves, and bark all contain toxins. Most Ohio buckeyes have five leaflets with pointed tips, and the yellow buckeye often has seven ovate-shaped leaflets. The shiny brown seeds have a deep brown color and whitish round patch-like a deer’s eye.īuckeye leaves are identified by the five or seven leaflets arranged in a semicircle at the end of a long stalk. The round fruits are encased in a brown husk with spines. The easiest way to identify buckeye trees ( Aesculus) is by the buckeye nuts. To identify a buckeye tree, such as the Ohio buckeye, look at the tree’s seeds, leaves, and flowers. In full bloom during April and May, the Ohio buckeye or California buckeye can have thousands of fragrant flowering panicles. The panicles can contain around 80 flowers and grow up to 6” (15 cm) long. Other buckeye trees produce pink and red flowers. The buckeye tree is a flowering tree species with conical clusters (panicles) of tiny flowers with creamy yellow to green petals. In the right picture flowers of yellow buckeye (Aesculus flava) Left picture: flowers of red buckeye (Aesculus pavia). Buckeyes are also a name for candy that looks like the buckeye tree’s seed. The term “buckeyes” can refer to people from Ohio or graduates of Ohio State University. As the common name suggests, the Ohio buckeye is the state’s national tree. Ohio buckeyes are found all the way from New York to Kentucky and down to Texas.īuckeyes get their name from the tree fruit-a round chestnut-like seed that looks like the eye of a buck. They are also popular trees in parks and open spaces in states along the East Coast and the Southern states. You can find buckeyes growing in the deciduous forests and grasslands in the Midwest. Buckeyes are common trees in North America.īuckeye trees grow between 12 and 40 ft. The most popular buckeye is the species Aesculus glabra, or Ohio buckeye tree. There are four main varieties of buckeye trees. What are Buckeyes?īuckeyes are deciduous ornamental trees that are popular in parks and open spacesīuckeye is a variety of ornamental trees in the genus Aesculus and family Sapindaceae. At the end of the article, you’ll find out how to care for these native trees. Descriptions of the tree’s leaves and flowers, along with pictures of buckeye trees, will help to recognize the most common species. This article is a guide to identifying the most common types of buckeyes. With their conical flower panicles and vibrant orange fall colors, buckeyes are trees with plenty of seasonal interest. The tall trees with their leafy green foliage provide plenty of shade. Buckeye trees are identified by their large round inedible nut-like seeds, green palmately compound leaves, and creamy-yellow or red flower clusters.īuckeyes are excellent ornamental trees for medium to large backyards. Common varieties of buckeyes are the Ohio buckeye, the California buckeye, and the yellow buckeye. isValid ( ) ) // Returns true because 2019 matches YYYY log ( moment ( "2019 was a great year because I got married", "YYYY-MM-DD" ). isValid ( ) ) // falseīe aware, however, that Moment gives you the possibility to work with partial dates, which might lead to unexpected results. log ( moment ( "not-a-date", "YYYY-MM-DD" ). This will return true if the date is valid, and false otherwise. In order to perform validation, simply pass a date string to the moment object, along with the desired date format, and call the isValid() method. format ( ) ) Īnother annoying task that Moment.js has greatly simplified is date validation. Moment.js // You have a 'moment' global here const today = moment ( ) console. Moment.js creates a global moment object which can be used to access all the date and time parsing and manipulation functionality. In order to run Moment.js from the browser, include it using a tag, as shown below. const moment = require ( 'moment' ) const today = moment ( ) console. Then, simply require() and use it in your application as shown below. In order to use it with Node, install the module using the following command. Moment.js can be run from the browser as well as from within a Node application. It is hard to imagine writing JavaScript without it.Moment.js is freely available for download from the project’s home page. The moment.format() function is so flexible, In particular, date formatting is usually the first reason Time zones, localization, addition and subtraction, durations: Moment makes mostĬomplex date tasks easy. Moment is an extremely powerful library with an unbelievable breadth of features. Prints "vor einer Minute" console.log(duration.humanize( true)) Moving On In your customer's language: const moment = require( 'moment') The humanize() function is locale aware, so you can render durations True, indicates whether the duration is positive or negative ('in a minute' vs 'a minute ago'). The humanize() function takes an optional parameter suffix that, if set to Moment.duration(m2.diff(m1)).humanize( true) // 'a minute ago' For example: const moment = require( 'moment') Ĭonst m1 = moment( new Date( '1 2:04:03')) Ĭonst m2 = m1.clone().add( 59, 'seconds') Ĭonst duration = moment.duration(m1.diff(m2)) ĭuration.humanize( true) // 'in a minute' The moment.diff() function returns a Moment duration object that represents the difference between two moments. h: hour of the day on 12 hour clock, '2'ĭifference between two times into something human-friendly like 'a minute ago'.hh: hour of day on 12-hour clock, zero-padded, '02'.HH: hour of day from 0-24, zero-padded, '14'.Here's a list of commonly used time format tokens. For example, here's how you can display a date's time in 2:04pm format: const moment = require( 'moment') Ĭonst m = moment( new Date( '1 14:04:03')) You can display just the date component, just the time component, or a combination The format() function is very flexible, so M.format( 'LL') // 'June 1, 2019' // Set the Moment locale to Germany moment.locale() // 'en' let m = moment( new Date( '1')) The L and LL tokens to get a locale-specific formatting of the date. You can escape moment tokens using square brackets. However, you'll get a surprising output: 'T126 1st of June'. Naively you might try the below format: // 'T126 1st of June' For example, if you want a more elaborate date like 'The 1st of June', Sometimes you want to add text to the format string that conflicts with a moment Here's some common date formats and how to express them in Moment format strings: Do: Day of the month with numeric ordinal contraction '1st'.MM: Month of the year, zero-padded '06'.Below are some commonly used formatting tokens for dates: Or 'd' that Moment knows to replace with a part of the date, like the year or theĭay of the month. The format() function takes in a string and replaces all instances of tokens with the corresponding date value. Human-readable format: const moment = require( 'moment') For example, here's how you would convert a YYYY-MM-DD string into a more Moment is the de facto choice for converting dates to neatlyįormatted strings in JavaScript, although some people opt out of using Moment to reduce bundle size. The built-in toLocaleString() function's options syntax is limited and filled with odd quirks. But most JavaScript developers would consider that masochism. The Overall Rating is capped at 2-stars if the Health Inspection rating is 1-star. Throughout the calculation of the Overall Rating, the rating cannot exceed 5-stars. Subtract one star from the Adjusted Rating if the Quality Measure Rating is 1-star.Add a star to the Adjusted Rating if the Quality Measure Rating is 5-stars.Subtract one star from the Health Inspection Rating if the Staffing Rating is one-star.(We will call this the "Adjusted Rating".) Add one star to the Health Inspection Rating if the Staffing Rating is at least four-stars and is higher than the Health Inspection Rating.Begin with the Health Inspection Rating. So, since there are FIVE ratings and FIVE stars for each rating, there must also be a FIVE step process to calculate the Overall Rating (so symetrical!) : According to CMS, the reason for adopting a different system is to give the Health Inspection Rating higher weight in the Overall Rating. See the latest cut rates on this table.Ĭalculating the Overall Star Rating is done differently. Cut-rates are redefined periodically and are published by CMS. The division between star ratings is called the “cut-rate”. The staff ratings and quality measure ratings follow a similar process but the divisions are based on a national ranking. In between 1-star and 5-star, the remaining homes are divided equally into three tranches which correspond with the stars 2 to 4. The top 10 percent of nursing homes (those with the lowest scores) are awarded a 5-star rating the bottom 20 percent (those with the highest scores) are awarded a 1-star rating. For the Health Inspection Rating the nursing homes in each state are ranked based on their weighted three year inspection score. Nursing homes are rated from 1-star to 5-stars with 1-star being the best rating and 5-star being the best rating. The rating system has five separate ratings including: The rating system was initially developed in 2008 and the methodologies are regularly reviewed and updated. The rating system allows people to easily compare facilities across numerous dimensions with the express purpose of identifying the best and best performing nursing homes. What Goes Into the Nursing Home's 5-Star RatingĬMS has put a lot of effort into creating its very elaborate 5-Star Quality Rating System specifically to provide a quick way for residents and family members to easily understand how well a nursing home is performing and to make comparing nursing homes easier. It has been 3 months since the most recent inspection. Inspection Scores Cycle 1 Score (as of February 05, 2015) 92 Cycle 2 Score (as of February 27, 2014) 48 Cycle 3 Score (as of January 10, 2013) 48 Weighted All Cycles Score 70 These include surface FZPs fabricated on polymethyl methacrylate, polycarbonate, fused silica, and the end facet of multimode fibers by using laser ablation volumetric FZPs fabricated in borosilicate glass, fused silica, and sapphire by using laser-induced localized refractive index change or void generation and nonlinear FZPs fabricated in lithium niobate crystal by using laser-induced quadratic susceptibility erasion. Various FZPs based on different material systems have been fabricated through femtosecond laser direct writing. The small heat-affected zone increases the processing accuracy of femtosecond lasers compared with that of other laser beams, which makes femtosecond laser processing a flexible and high-precision tool for fabricating micro–nano structures. Because of the ultrashort pulse duration, the laser pulse ends before the energy is transferred from the excited electrons to the lattice, which minimizes the thermal effect. However, these methods require a multistep manufacturing process, the processing of masks, or rigorous environmental conditions, which makes processing time-consuming and costly, thus limiting the practical application of FZPs and their integration with other optical devices.įemtosecond lasers have attracted broad attention in micro–nano fabrication because of their unique ultrashort pulse duration, extremely high peak intensity, and material universality as well as their inherently flexible and maskless laser processing. Similar to other diffractive optical devices, FZPs are commonly fabricated using high-accuracy processing methods, such as photolithography, electron-beam lithography, or focused ion beam etching. The light beams transmitted or reflected by FZPs interfere constructively at the designed points, and hence, they are generally used in optical systems as the refractive lens for focusing and have been extensively applied in hybrid optics, microsensors, optical tweezers, and interconnections. The Fresnel zone plate (FZP) is a typical diffractive optical device that consists of alternate concentric rings of various thicknesses (phase type) or optical transmittances (amplitude type). Planar diffractive optical devices, however, have attracted broad attention because they are ultrathin, light weight, and easy to integrate. Refractive optics such as lens, grating, axicon, and microlens arrays are widely used in optical systems and daily life, but their bulky size and poor installation flexibility render them incapable of meeting the growing demand for miniaturization in integrated optical systems. Furthermore, the fabrication of other functional ultrathin lenses, such as axial multifocal zone plates, petal-like zone plates, and FZP arrays, is described, revealing the wide potential for the flexible and scalable fabrication method in on-chip integrated optical systems. The fabricated FZPs possess an excellent broadband focusing and imaging ability in the visible spectrum. FZPs with an area varying across three orders of magnitude are presented to demonstrate the capability of cross-scale fabrication. The fabricated FZPs are spliced by the printed element structures with no FZP size limitation in theory. The FZPs are split into a series of element patterns that are printed in order by using corresponding modulated femtosecond pulses. This paper details a high efficiency method for fabricating ultrathin FZPs of different scales on metal films by using holographic femtosecond lasers. However, challenges remain in fabricating FZPs with high efficiency and satisfying the requirement for cross-scale fabrication. To meet the growing demand for photonic integration and device miniaturization, planar diffractive Fresnel zone plates (FZPs) are widely applied in integrated optical systems. |
